I have thought that since we are overseas, National Day will be just like a usual business day. Nevertheless when my hubby came back during that week, he announced to me that his company has organised to celebrate the Singapore National Day.

At first I thought it was a great idea but not so great after that because my hubby told me that we had to prepare a local dish for 150 people and his team has volunteered to do Malay cuisine. I was like wow…………. that is a lot.

Anyway it was easy for him to tell me because his job of preparing the food has fallen on me. I decided that I will do a Malay desert – the ondeh ondeh (mashed sweet potato mixed with glutinous rice flour wrapped with palm sugar coated with desiccated coconut). This is defiantly one of my favourite and I started to call my grandaunt for her recipe. But I soon realised that it is a lot of work. Mashing and mixing the sweet potatoes is already quite a choir. I really wished at that time I can give up. Too bad L …… I had already promised my hubby.
