EtudeHouseAs I have ran out of cosmetic totally, I have been hunting for one with beautiful packaging, quality that suits my facial needs and of course with a relatively low cost. I finally found Etude House at Johor City Square Mall and I found that it suits to all my needs without being overpriced. Best of all ,I have no break out after using a week of the BB Magic Balm which acts as a foundation.

Well….. I shall not go on ranting about it as there have been raves about it in the forums on the products from Etude House. I will infact recommend you to have go down and try it and see if the product suits you as what is good might not be the best for you. They have just recently opened a stall at Plaza Singapura (Basement 1). The decor of the stall is in sweet pink and it is definately hard to miss.

However I must say I am loving it more every time I use it especially the BB Compact Powder and cute little blusher. I can’t get enough of the eyeshadow and lipstick too with a layer of gloss on it.

The remaining verdict is up to you and please do share it with me too. 🙂

We went to the Sydney Fish Market for the last time and we continued our journey to the ever so famous Bondi Beach. Overall, like all the other beaches I have seen in my stay in Australia, Bondi beach also has clean, clear water with soft white sand. My boys and I had our fun walking along the beach kicking in coming waves at each other but it is such a pity that I did not bring down my camera.

It is also over here, we bought Damir his 1st pair of Ray Ban and a pair of flip flops.

Now it is time to embark our 6 hour jounry to Coff Harbour to stay for the night.

As my hubby, will be going away for 2 months soon, he actually planned a 3day 2 nights get away at Sunshine Coast for us. We went with a couple of friends and it was tremendous fun. Now I am back at home all energized and happy. I believe my boys were very happy too because, they were yakking away to my mum on the phone about what daddy bought for them at the Saturday Market, what type of animals they saw at the Zoo and how they bounce about the kangaroos and wallabies and how afraid they are of the alligator. We stayed in a really cosy apartment and had walks by the sandy beaches in the evening. The boys had their fill of fun by splashing near the sea.

This is what I call happy childhood and as I sat at the beach looking at my hubby splashing at the sea with the boys, I really wonder if they were ever remember this moment of their life when they grow up. This thought really leaves a smile in my heart.

Anyway, here are the lists of places where we have stayed, eaten and visited.

APARTMENT & EATERY

Breakfree Seamark

Location: 29 First Avenue, Mooloolaba, QLD 4557

Website: www.seamarkresort.com.au

I really love this apartment and I must reckon that this is the nicest apartment I have stayed in during my getaways in Australia. It is just a short walk to the beach and you can enjoy a stroll along the sandy shores. It is also conveniently located in one of the most cosmopolitan areas of the Sunshine Coast, close to the Sunshine Coast’s award winning tourist attractions, a 15 minute transfer from Sunshine Coast Airport, yet just 75 minutes drive north of Brisbane.

Ettamogah Pub

Location: 1 kilometre north of the Caloundra exit on the Bruce Highway

Website: www.aussieworld.com.au/web/ettamogah-pub.html

I will rate the food 3 stars out of 5 but I really love the concept of the pub because of all the cartons hanging on the wall, its quirky shape and caricature appearance.

AT MALENY

Website: www.malenyguide.com.au

Perhaps because of our rush itinerary, I find that there is nothing much in this town except for its row of eateries. However I will come back here again because of the Queensland’s Best Voted Ice-cream. It is the creamiest ice-cream I have ever eaten which I don’t mind eating till I get a tummy ache or tooth ache (just kidding). The shop is name “Collin James”. Another of my favourite is the “The Maple Street Co-operative” They sell mainly organic things and even their beauty products are organic. Their macadamia-honey lip balm sure taste yummy.

AT MONTVILLE

Website: www.montvilleguide.com.au

Ahh… I must say this is my favourite town of all because of all the quirky little shops along the roads selling little quirky things. This is a Must-to-visit because of you can see the demonstrations of rock-candy making and get to taste the freshly made candy. The “Black Forest Hill” clock centre will wow you with all the cuckoo clocks and for chocolate lovers; I think you will like the “Chocolate Country” store. And yes, my very own favourite is the “Tea Junction” I have bought a few beautiful teapots and teacups from here and most of all the variety of tea they have in here. I think I will never get sick of this place.

FRUIT PLANTATIONS

Strawberry Fields

Location: 133 Laxton Road, Palmview, QLD 4553

My boys love this place because they absolutely adore strawberries and they were really excited about picking their own strawberries. However do take note because this is seasonal.  This is also the place where you get to eat authentic strawberry ice-cream because in the vanilla ice-cream, it is all embedded with chunks and chunks of strawberries. I wish I can show you the photo but it was eaten up before we can take any. So can you imagine?

The Big Pineapple

Location: Nambour Connecion Road,Woombye, QLD 4559

Website: www.bigpineapple.com.au

This is the pineapple plantation and it is really a huge plantation where they have train rides to bring you around the plantation. There is also a wildlife reserve in the plantation itself so that you can observe the native animals. It really seems fun but we really did not a chance to tour around because we were there late. I will like to go back again earlier this time though.

OTHERS

Emunidi Market

Location: 1 hour along the Bruce Highway, North of Brisbane

Website: www.emunidimarkets.com.au

This place is a must go with the great variety of stores and food. However it is open only on Wednesday and Saturday. It is just like our Singapore Night Market except that it opens in the day and definitely has a lot more stores. There are stores selling art works, clothes, gem stones like opal and many more others which I can’t finish listing here. Clemens was like going around asking, “Mummy, can I buy this? Can I buy that? What is this and what is that?” He is so full of question that at times, I really do not know how to answer him.

Sunshine Castle

Location: 296 David Low Way, Bli Bli, QLD 4560

Website: www.sunshinecastle.com

Well well, we are here because the boys after watching a series of Charlie and Lola DVD featuring a castle, has been bugging us ever since that they want a castle. This is a very small castle and it can be quite eerie to be walking alone along the rather dark passages. However if you like dolls, it is also home to a quaint little doll museum and it has a display of medieval armoury and a model train exhibition. Anyway, we have finally satisfied the boys curiosity for castles.

Australia Zoo

Location: Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah, QLD 4519

Website: www.australiazoo.com.au

My boys enjoyed really themselves here by bouncing around the kangaroos and wallabies. My tummy was churning all time round when they were doing that and I had to constantly scream, “Walk properly boys, you wouldn’t want to be bouncing on the kangaroos’ tails.” It is a nice place to visit. The presentations are great; the zoo keepers are very friendly, answering all the questions you want to know about the animals and the most interesting of all are the zoo keepers bringing the animals for a walk around the zoo. Hence, you can see wombats and cheetah on leash walking around the zoo.

My boys and I have a similar liking to the book store. Each time we go to the mall, the never-missed places will be the toys department, book store and cafe. I think because I like it, it has too kind of rubbed it off with the boys. If I do not go to any of the stores on the particular day when we go to the mall; Clemens will somehow or rather remind me.

However each time, we go to the bookstore, that it is, we will defiantly get something out from there. My books, the boys’ books. I know we can always borrow from the library and in fact, we visit the library once a week and borrow tons of books home but it is never quite the same since it is not ours.

Yeeks…… I really hate myself for splurging on books. This is something I know I have to change but I can’t just help it especially when I see a good book that screams, “You will like me, buy me home!”. Well here are our buys this time

Mine:

Well I bought this book because of the easy-to-get ingredients and clear instructions given. The recipes are easy to read and follow and I really hope to bake a nice cake one of these days.

The Boys’:

As for the boys, we really enjoyed The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Both the book and the game) hence at the moment we are quite into the Eric Carle Series. The Possum Magic is not part of the series but it is a very Australian book. It is very interesting and funny too.

Sometime last week, I had felt lousy the whole week, screaming at the boys and spanking Clemens. It was really hard to get them to do things and to stop fighting. I felt like a total failure and the world’s most lousy mum to have to inflict pain both emotionally and physically on the boys. I was hurting badly and hence it was off to a shopping spree at the bookstore with the boys. It was to cool down the tensions that I have with the boys and it was also because I needed a guide. At that time, I seriously don’t understand, why people have little boys and I have little monkeys.

Anyway it was an expensive trip to the bookstore but I know it is worth it.

 Mine Buys:

The Boys’ Buys:

Yesh, we have finally bought a car. And mine, ain’t the boys excited?

Stepping out of the Brisbane International Airport was definitely cold (it’s winter). My boys were happy to see their dad and the best is yet to come. Because we have taken the night flight from Singapore, we arrived at Brisbane in the morning. Therefore, we were certainly not heading home.

My hubby and his colleague took us for breakfast at a Chinese Restaurant. Perhaps because I have not adapted or perhaps because I am picky about my food, I seriously did not enjoy my ‘dim sum’. It really paled in comparison to the ones I have at home.

The Chinatown seems weird too compared to the one back in Singapore. The Chinatown seems too quiet. I started to feel unsure and afraid. Perhaps there was even a hint of regret for coming over to Australia with my hubby.  But I had kept quiet about it when I see how happy my hubby was to see us.

But all those negative feeling changed when my hubby and his colleagues took us for shopping. The first place they took us was to the DFO (direct factory outlet). It was a place where we can buy quality goods at a cheaper price.

I certainly like it here especially the home wares. Unable to control myself, I bought 2 sets of Corelle dinner ware. They were like $30 to $50 cheaper than in Singapore and it was the latest design. I was simply elated. All the negative feelings were gone only to be replaced by excitement. As I walked on I could only feel myself feeling happier. I had bought some crystal wine glasses too.

It was soon time for us to leave for dinner. We went to an area known as Sunnybank. It is said to be the 2nd Chinatown of Brisbane. The a-claimed Singaporean food was ok but it was a tad too salty.

But the thing to be happy about is I know my boys are happy. Happy to be with their dad. Happy that we are together as a family. In fact my elder boy has already made friends with a colleague’s son.
